Everything went together easily. Ensure you use teflon tape to seal the threads of the gauge. The only issue I had was when I attempted to install a new 0-ring seal the cover fit was too tight. So I cleaned and lubed the original seal using WD-40 and it installed with just a little coaxing. I also cleaned the seal seats, or grooves, using alcohol.
NOTE: I had some confusion over different covers. There's this one, model 178553, and another, model 178561, that looks similar, but is about 8 inches taller. The model numbers are different, but if you lookup the spec sheet for either you'll see only the filter with the tall cover. According to Pentair, both covers will fit, but there's some confusion which model is newer. One important point, the taller cover doesn't have any creases in the plastic where mine leaked, and it's cheaper. Something to consider, unless your filter is enclosed and there's clearance issues.

We’ll see how long this one will last in the Florida sun
I found it very easy to replace. Do not use WD-40 because it will prematurely deteriorate the oring. I used Super Lube. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0081JEBFC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Clean the groove where the oring sits. I noticed a build up of hardened lube that may have caused the lid to bulge out causing the leak.
Yes, the oring will be tight trying to get it on. I lubed it very well and once I held it in place and pulled it around the rim it went on.
Lube the outside of the oring and the lid will slide right on. Use pipe sealer on the gauge and relief valve.
I cleaned the filter before reassembling and it works great. It has been a month and no leaks.
I know some have stated that it is overpriced, but in my case it saved me a $1000.00.
